SNFCC is set to dazzle Athens once again as it opens the Light Installations Festival this Sunday, December 1, 2024.
Now in its eighth year, the festival invites visitors on a mesmerizing journey through light and imagination. Running until January 7, 2025, the event showcases six breathtaking installations by renowned Greek and international artists, all centered on the theme Dreamy Dreams: Dreamy Landscapes of the Festival of Light.
This year, the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC) collaborates for the sixth time with the Light Art Collection, together presenting three standout installations that merge cutting-edge technology with artistic brilliance:
- Wave by UK-based Squidsoup transforms the Great Lawn into a shimmering sea of light. Comprising 500 suspended orbs, each equipped with LED lights, speakers, and sensors, the installation creates an immersive audiovisual experience that evokes the rhythms of water and nature.
- Moonburn by Dutch collective Stichting Barstow enchants visitors near the Water Jets with its surreal depiction of a glowing moon. A luminous six-meter balloon, painted with fluorescent patterns, reflects the vibrancy of the city, transporting audiences to a fantastical dimension.
- Error by Dutch duo Vendel & de Wolf takes over Pine Grove with its swirling black hole of lights. This poetic piece questions the intersection of human imperfection and technological randomness, offering a meditative take on the beauty of flaws.
The SNFCC transforms into a landscape of dreams, inviting visitors of all ages to explore swirling stars, radiant moons, and pulsating thoughts.
