Until January 19, 2025, the city will glow with 27 spectacular light artworks under this year’s theme: Rituals, promising a captivating journey through light and tradition, exploring the unifying and transformative power of rituals across cultures and times.
A Magical Edition for a Milestone Year
This year’s festival isn’t just about incredible art—it’s a celebration of Amsterdam’s 750th anniversary. As the city reflects on its rich history and vibrant spirit, Rituals is the perfect theme to explore how light connects us, transforms us, and brings us together in moments of joy, reflection, and renewal.
Exclusive Artworks That Live On
This year’s lineup includes 27 mesmerizing light artworks created by artists from around the world. A significant portion of these works have been specially designed for the festival and will become part of the Light Art Collection after the event, ensuring their beauty lives on beyond the festival.
Experience it Yourself!
Visitors can enjoy the artworks from both water and land, with a variety of experiences available to deepen their understanding of the art, the artists, and the theme. The Light Garden in the Hoftuin will also return as the festival's heart, offering light artworks, an information point, and refreshments, alongside Friday programming in December featuring music and lectures.
The lights will shine daily from 5:00 p.m., with extended hours during the Christmas break.
