Mermaid's Song

From sirens to mermaids, the charm and danger of the seas have always fascinated us. But our mastery of the sea has also led to its instability. Plastic and overfishing are beginning to have a greater impact on the ecosystem. Has charm once again blinded us to danger? Flo Arnold's Mermaid's Song reminds us of the sea’s duality and our responsibility to respect it. The mermaid’s blue scales are made from recycled plastic and shaped like a crescent moon. We might not truly hear the mermaid’s song, but we sure can admire her beauty.
