Intrepid

The paper boat, along with the hat and the crane, is the most folded origami model worldwide. This one, by artist Katja Galyuk, is sixty times as big and instead of paper, this boat consists of triangular metal piers and translucent panels. Nevertheless, the shape is unmistakable.

Everyday items that have been enlarged to these proportions; make you look twice at something that you thought you already knew. The name Intrepid means ‘daring' or (even more fun): ‘temerarious’.

About the artist

Katja Galyuk studied Social Geography at Moscow State University and worked for the Department for Urban Development, after which she moved to the Netherlands. She founded CITY + LIGHT to create lightscapes that connect people and public space.
