Infinita is based on a geometrical form: the tetrahedron, or a pyramid with a triangular ground surface. The bright sparkling quartz structures in the installation are composed of numerous tetrahedrons, and remind us of cracked crystals or a split iceberg.

At a closer look, you can see the complexity of the internal structure. Balmond Studio asks whether the essence of our existence is what we can see, touch, and feel, or whether it lies beneath the surface.

About the artist

Cecil Balmond started his own studio in 2010, with an international team of architects, engineers, artists, designers and theoreticians. Balmond Studio is based on research in the fields of science, mathematics and biology. Infinita is a project by Ryan Szanyi.
