Greenhouse

Can glass produce light? After some research Engbers discovered a material that has existed for 2000 years, which comes very closely! It is called vaseline glass, or uranium glass, and shines under ultraviolet light.

After a long search, Engbers came across an expert who could create small windows with this material. Something that was never done before! The result: an illuminated greenhouse.

About the artist

The background of Victor Engbers is diverse: he studied to become a lawyer, then worked as a journalist and later attended the Gerrit Rietveld Art Academy. Since then he has mainly made temporary installations for festivals, events and other (semi-) public places and spaces. With his work he searches for new discoveries and offers new perspectives to look at the world by looking for unknown and invisible boundaries.
