Badstop

By enlarging and illuminating this common everyday utensil, it demands attention. Atelier Haute Cuisine wants to use this attention and the symbolic value of the bath plug to make people think about the importance of clean water. The bath plug ensures us that water doesn’t drain away through our sink hole. It should remind us of the importance that our clean, unpolluted water isn’t going down the drain either.

Putting in the plug every now and then in this sense, is a symbolic warm call to reflect about our own consumption and prevention of waste. After all, water is the driving force of the world and essential for the maintenance and development of life.

About the artist

Design collective Atelier Haute Cuisine was founded in 2009 by Bernd Tyskens and Benny Conings. They don't do any cooking or other food related stuff but acting like cooks they mix different ingredients together so that they can contribute to a greater whole. Just like you would cook a meal. The outcome can be handmade objects, lightsculptures, furniture, site specific installations and concepts.
